The Just One Soccer League (JOSL) was established in 1996 as a values-based recreational program for Newark youth. JOSL strives to build the community and develop leaders by bringing the players, parents, coaches and volunteers together through the wonderful sport of soccer. Since our focus is on recreation, rather than competition, we’re able to concentrate on promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership to the players with the support of adult volunteers. Organized sports activities have been shown to impact the lives of young people, influencing them to make choices that lead away form drug abuse and crime and towards better academic performance. The overall goal of JOSL is to improve our community. We accomplish this goal by providing positive recreational activities where members of the Newark community can learn to develop leadership skills and ultimately go on to become more involved in improving the health and appearance of their neighborhoods.
